Katie Witthauer Murrah, M.Ed. Owner/Director
Auburn Day School is my passion and I love experiencing the joy of learning alongside these young students. I have over 15 years of teaching and administrative experience and a master's degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in gifted education from the University of Virginia. I've taught children from preschool to eighth grade in a variety of programs. Over the years, I've worked with many bright and talented students and I've designed our concept-based curriculum and our learning environment with exceptional students in mind. I look forward to meeting you, getting to know your family and introducing you to ADS. |
Lillie Brooks, B.S., Assistant Director
I am ecstatic to be a part of the Auburn Day School family! I have my bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Auburn university and I have a passion for seeing children learn and realize their potential! I have loved getting to know the children and parents at Auburn Day School. In my free time, I love to be with friends, listen to t-swift, and snuggle with my pup-Tank! I cannot wait to continue to learn and explore alongside the sweet students here! 
Lydia McCormick, B.S., School and Community Coordinator
I am so excited to be joining the Auburn Day School team as the School and Community Coordinator! I grew up in DeKalb County, Alabama and spent a few years living in Georgia. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Berry College, I moved to Auburn to be closer to family. I have always had a passion for education and working toward a positive, innovative, and respectful environment for little minds in whatever way I can. Outside of ADS, you will find me traveling somewhere new, drinking a tasty coffee, or running around with my Dalmatian, Phoebe. I am delighted to be welcomed into the Auburn Day School community, and I hope to make a positive impact on the learning experiences of students! |
Lead Teachers
Mary Cordell, B.A., Sprouts Lead Teacher
Hello, ADS! I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Auburn Day School team. I have a degree in English with a focus in secondary education from Auburn University. I have over eight years of experience in preschool classrooms teaching one to three year old children. I am passionate about helping each child reach their next milestone while feeling loved exactly where they are. I strongly believe children learn best by being able to be hands on explorers of their world, and I love to be a part of their experience as a supportive and caring teacher. I am so honored that I now get to do that at ADS! When I’m not in the classroom, I am enjoying my time with my husband, our two children, and our cat, Aubie. I am so excited to meet everyone at Auburn Day School! 
Alison Crosby, M.S.W.: Voyagers' Lead Teacher
I am thrilled to be a part of the ADS team. After graduating with my Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work from the University of Georgia, I returned to Auburn, my hometown, with my husband. It was then I realized my passion for early childhood education and began my 10 year career in a child development center. I spent 8 years in the Toddler and Twos classroom and 2 years in administration before joining the ADS team. When I'm not in the classroom, I love spending time with my husband and two kids (6 & 10). I'm excited to begin my fifth year here at Auburn Day School and I can't wait to meet all of you! 
Abbie Murphy, B.S., Explorers' Lead Teacher
My name is Abbie Murphy, and I’m so excited to be part of the ADS team! I’m originally from Montgomery and graduated from Auburn University in Elementary Education. I recently moved to Auburn and am currently working toward my master’s degree in Elementary Education. I have a true passion for working with kids and love watching them grow, discover new things, and develop a love for learning. I believe in creating a welcoming, engaging classroom where students feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. I can’t wait to learn, grow, and make a positive impact alongside the students this year! 
Suz Renneker, B.S., Adventurers'/Eggs' Lead Teacher
Hi! I am so excited to begin my second year as a Lead teacher at Auburn Day School! I am from Birmingham, Alabama, and a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor's in Communication and a minor in Psychology. I have always had a passion for working with children. I find it so rewarding to see a child accomplish a task for the first time! Every week brings something new with the children. In my free time, I love to read, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends! We're going to have an amazing year in the ADS Adventurers' Class! 
Emily Daniel, B.S., Inventors' Lead Teacher
I am so excited to join the Auburn Day School team. I recently graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery with my degree in Elementary Education. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in the same field! I’m passionate about creating a warm, engaging space where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. I already love the joyful, hands-on, and nurturing environment at Auburn Day School, and I’m so grateful to be part of a team that truly values the whole child. 
Katelyne Turner, B.S., Investigators'/Tadpoles' Lead Teacher
Labelle Dance Company Owner/Director Hello, friends! My name is Katelyne Turner, and I am originally from Elba, Alabama. I have been a teacher at ADS for three years, and I enjoy helping children build confidence while developing important skills such as problem-solving and independence in a supportive environment. While earning my degree in Early Childhood Development at Auburn University, I also opened my own dance company, Elite Performance and Fitness, which is why you will often find me in front of a mirror when I am not in the classroom. I have previously served as the Director of a childcare facility in my hometown, and I hope to one day open my own preschool and arts center. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, spoiling my child, also known as my dog Hank, and spending time at the beach. Being adopted by my grandparents greatly shaped who I am today and has strongly influenced my teaching philosophy. I believe in creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels seen, supported, and understood. It is truly a gift to know your children, whether they spend all day in my classroom or just a few moments with me at car line. I am grateful to be part of their days. 
Sharon Zhang, M.Ed., Curious Connectors' Lead Teacher/Cultural Program Coordinator
Hey there! I’m thrilled to be part of the Auburn Day School team as both a lead teacher and cultural program coordinator! I pursued my master’s degree in ESOL/Bilingual Education at the University of Florida. Coming from a family of educators, my passion for learning and teaching has always been ingrained in me. Over the past five years, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with ESOL and Mandarin-as-a-Second-Language students, both in China and here in the U.S. In addition to teaching, I also plan and coordinate our school’s cultural programs, bringing global experiences to our classrooms. When I’m not in the classroom, you can often find me whipping up delicious meals, capturing life’s moments, or simply hanging out with my furry friends—my dogs and cat. I can’t wait to team up with you as we embark on this exciting journey together, nurturing your child’s growth and development every step of the way! 
Lauren Pennington, B.A., Junior Chemists'/ Froglets' Lead Teacher
Hello ADS family, my name is Lauren Pennington and I am so excited to start this new year with you all! A little bit about me, I just moved here from Huntsville, Alabama where I grew up. I came to Auburn to be with my soon to be husband, Sean. I previously taught visual arts for students PreK-5th. I am passionate at igniting creativity and a love for learning in children. Watching students problem solve and discover new things is what drives me. I hope to build amazing relationships with all my students and families. I can’t wait to learn and grow alongside you. 
Maddy Messick, M.Ed, Summer Lead Teacher
Hey, everyone! My name is Maddy Messick, and I’m a proud third-generation teacher. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education from Auburn University. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my miniature dachshund, Maverick. 
Grace Kochie, Sunbeam Scholars Afterschool Program Coordinator
Hi! My name is Grace Kochie, and I am so excited to be a part of the Auburn Day School team as the Sunbeam Scholars Afterschool Program Coordinator! I am currently a junior at Auburn University studying Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Counseling. I plan to get my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and become a children’s play therapist! Working with children is a passion of mine; I have been working in childcare for 6 years, and I love seeing them grow and their personalities blossom! In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I can’t wait to meet all of you! |

Heather McDonough, B.S., ADS Music Teacher and Assistant Teacher
I'm an original auburn native, although I spent 13 years in Newnan, GA. I have a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Auburn University and 15 years of teaching experience at the elementary and preschool levels. My passion is exposing young children to the many benefits of creative expression through music, movement, and imagination. I'm married with two children and a cardigan welsh corgi. Outside of ADS I'm involved in Girl Scouts and the Auburn Band Parents Association. I'm a textbook Hufflepuff and love to read, belly dance, and nap! 
Rachel Webb, Assistant teacher
Hi! My name is Rachel Webb, and I’m a junior at Auburn University studying Human Development and Family Science. I hope one day become a pediatric Occupational Therapist. I truly love being around children and feel so grateful to get to support them as they learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of. I’m so excited to be part of the Auburn Day School family and can’t wait to get to know the sweet students and families this year! 
Madelyn Stocks, Assistant Teacher
Hey! I'm Madelyn and I am overjoyed to join the Auburn Day School team. I absolutely love working with children and this is a wonderful place to do so. Currently, I am a junior in speech, language and hearing at Auburn University, with hopes to one day become a speech language pathologist. I am passionate about working with children and hope to help them improve their speech in the future. I love to see the child-like wonder in the eyes of children as they learn and experience life! I am originally from Birmingham, AL and I enjoy spending time with friends and family and being involved with my church in my free time! I am beyond blessed and excited to be at ADS! 
Madison Dupre, Assistant Teacher
Hello! My name is Madison Dupre, and I am so excited to join the ADS family as an assistant teacher! I am a senior at Auburn University studying public health. I grew up in STEM camps and classes that sparked my love for learning and led me to my career path in health education and communication. I have a background in working with young adults with disabilities and am passionate about encouraging the next generation to learn and grow! I am looking forward to getting to know your child and watching them shine! 
Mary Morgan Scott, B.A., Assistant Teacher
My name is Mary Morgan Scott, I recently graduated from Auburn University with my BA in French, and I am so excited to be joining the ADS Team as an assistant teacher! I have been working with children for over 6 years through babysitting and nannying, and this past year I had the opportunity to teach French at the high school level. What I love most about working with kids is getting to see their unique personalities shine, and watching them learn and grow. This is one of the reasons that ADS’ curiosity-forward approach really stands out to me. I feel so lucky to be working at Auburn Day School, and I can’t wait to meet all of the sweet students and families! 
Emma Danback, B.S., Assistant Teacher
I am thrilled to be a part of the ADS team for the upcoming school year. I recently graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management with a concentration in Recreation Therapy. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Life at Auburn University. I am excited to use the skills I have learned throughout my education to promote healthy learning and foster an encouraging environment for the children at ADS! 
Serah Whitney Akusika Lagble, M.P.A., Assistant Teacher
Hi ADS family! My name is Serah Lagble, and I’m so excited to be joining the Auburn Day School team! I hold a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University, where I also served as a graduate research and teaching assistant in the Department of Political Science. Before that, I earned my diploma and Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ghana. I’ve always had a heart for education and youth mentorship, and I love creating spaces where children can learn, grow, and explore their curiosity. I’ve worked with youth through the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama, I Am My Brother’s Keeper, and other community programs, supporting students in academics, STEM, and personal development. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy creative writing, exploring new cultures and ideas, and spending time volunteering in the community. I’m so thrilled to learn alongside the wonderful students and families at Auburn Day School this year! 
Niki Bencsik, Assistant Teacher
My name is Niki Bencsik, and I am excited to join the ADS family as an Assistant Teacher! I am a mother of two amazing girls, ages 11 and 13, and a skilled educator with more than ten years of experience working with children. I hold a degree in teaching German as a foreign language as well as Communication Science, and I bring a strong foundation in educational support and child development. Since relocating from Hungary to the United States in 2022, I have remained closely connected to education both professionally and as a parent of two children currently in 5th and 7th grade. I am committed to supporting classroom instruction and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Outside of my work in education, I enjoy creative pursuits such as glasswork and baking. I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful team! 
Lilly Robinson, Assistant Teacher
Hi there! I am ecstatic to be joining the Auburn Day School team as an Assistant Teacher. I’m originally from Mobile, AL, and I am a current Auburn University Student pursuing my degree in Early Childhood Education. My passion for teaching started back in 2018 when I first started working with children. but, growing up with a teacher for a Mom always inspired me to pursue teaching. I have worked with children from ages 4 weeks to 10 years as a nanny, in camps, tutoring sessions, and Sunday School. I am excited to use the skills I’m acquiring in the classroom to foster learning and discovery for the students at ADS. Outside of class and ADS, I spend time with my German-Shepherd Gumbo, train for marathons, and travel. 
Rachael Harper, Assistant Teacher
I am so excited to join the Auburn Day School team! I recently graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and am currently pursuing a master's degree in Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation at Auburn University. I have a strong passion for working with children and have developed a unique connection with them throughout my academic and professional experiences. In the future, I aspire to specialize in supporting children with learning disabilities. Outside my academic pursuits, I enjoy spending time at the beach, shopping, and socializing with family and friends. I look forward to building strong relationships with the children at Auburn Day School and positively impacting their lives. 
Audrey Cordier, Assistant Teacher
Hi everyone! My name is Audrey Cordier, and I am from Fayetteville, Georgia! I am currently a Junior at Auburn University studying Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences. My goal is to attend graduate school and become a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. I am hoping to work either in schools with children or in hospitals in acute care. I have absolutely loved working with and getting to know the little ones, and am excited for this year at Auburn Day School! 
Caroline Holmes, Assistant Teacher
Hi ADS family! My name is Caroline and I am currently a junior at Auburn University studying Psychology with a minor in Child Development. I am overjoyed to be an assistant teacher this year! I am from Virginia and have worked previously as an assistant teacher back home, but am so excited to bring those skills to ADS. Working with children is a huge passion of mine and I am so excited to see the growth among so many kids. In my free time, I love anything with dance, music, working out, and spending time with family. I can't wait to meet all of you soon!

I am a senior at Auburn University with a strong passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development. I’m originally from Dothan, Alabama, and I’ve loved being around kids for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience working with children in a variety of settings, and each experience has continued to shape how I learn, grow, and connect with them. My name is Kaitlyn Castleberry, and I am so excited to be a part of the Auburn Day School team! I am from Montgomery, Alabama, and am currently a Junior at Auburn University studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
